Danny
Coolshoes and friends review stuff.
Happiness
of Horror
Coolshoes
pulled the door with a firm grip, “Come on captain, let’s
get a DVD” he declared. In they marched.
Coolshoes
with his checked vans, and the Captain, a very dapper dude in his
three button mod suit.
The
store assistant was not impressed and barely dragged her eyes from
Heat magazine.
“We
need to get some culture” said the Captain.
“Yes,
yes, yes, you are so very right Captain” Coolshoes replied.
One
hour, several existential debates and a few tears later, they reached
a deadlock.
The
choice was between “Tirez sur la Pianist” the Truffaut
classic and “Singing in the Rain”. |

Coolshoes
turned despondently from the shelf, and a cover sort of leapt out at him.
A
mad look group of Japanese people running up a hill like the sound of
music.
Coolshoes
picked up, turned to the Captain and raised an eyebrow “Interesting”.
After
the movie Coolshoes opened the debate.
“Happiness
of the Katakuris is a horror musical love story, bizarre in the
way that only the Japanese seem to be able to truly get away with.
I
like the way the story is told through the youngest member of the
Katakuris family’s memories.
Crazy
guesthouse at the foot of the volcano, their first guest arrives
and subsequently dies. Ha. The family bury the body rather then
risk putting future guests off. |

From
there its death, songs, food, weird stuff in the fridge, love dance.
Ha,
then Zombies, more gruesome deaths, bizarre songs and a dark stranger/member
of the English Royal family.
"That
film rocked." He said
The
Captain added,
| “The
film effortlessly flits between song, comedy, tragedy, violence
and romance.
It is both hysterical and bizarre. There are moments when you think
“What the hell was that?”
However,
through the disbelief there is a strong sense of fascination and
wonder.
The
opening sequence seems to have nothing to do with anything; however
it is riveting in its grotesqueness. |

This
is a hugely entertaining film, if you love RomZomCom you will surely love
this Musical RomZomCom with animation!”
They
have succeeded in their mission to acquire culture. Coolshoes wonders
exactly what sort of Culture they have acquired! They raise their beers.
Coolshoes
says “This film rocks, see it before you die!”
The
Captain nods “10 out of 11”
Coolshoes
tips “Happiness of the Katakuris, directed by Takashi Miike - who
also directed 'Ichi the Killer' - is available from shops and other places.”
