Superhero fiction is one of the hottest storytelling genres out there. Here's where I comment on everything you need to know!

Just give me One... More... Day...!

Change is good...

First, a disclaimer. I'm waiting for the trade/graphic novel on this storyline.

But I already know what the outcome is as I'm a regular visitor to the comic book news websites.

Even so, I want to see how it all plays out so I look forward to reading it.

This storyline has the honour of being the most talked about Spider-Man comic book story in a long, long time.

Online fandom is up in arms at the end result which sets up a new status quo more accessible to new readers.

Now, I can understand the fact that many people have grown with the character throughout the years and feel a certain bond to the title.

So when something of this magnitude occurs it's like a massive wrench to the system.

The moment in question?

The end of the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane.

I happen to agree with Editor in Chief, Joe Quesada, that having the character married limited the stories you could tell and took him too far from his original concept.

A concept so good and simple that countless generations can enjoy it.

The way the marriage was dissolved is the particular bone of contention. It involved a deal with Mephisto. The devil demon of the Marvel Universe.

I say that's just one of the things that makes Marvel marvel. Anything can happen and with the wealth of characters at their disposal it's all part of the magic.

That story arc was called One More Day.

It paved the way for a new era of amazing Spider-Man tales dubbed Brand New Day.

A perfect jumping on point for new readers with quality creators behind the wheel including Dan Slott and Steve McNiven.

It's all about good stories and that's what I love.
