Power Controlled, Power Unleashed... Incredible Hulk Movie - My Take...

Unbridled rage can be a powerful thing, if used responsibly, if it can be controlled, if the full might of every superhero on the planet can keep it at bay...

Ok, the Hulk has returned. In the second incarnation, which is more of a reintroduction than a sequel, I came away from watching it feeling very satisfied.

Unlike it's predecessor, which I quite liked, this was more steeped in comic book lore with plenty of source references and a subtle hint of what is to come.

A connected Marvel Movie universe.

Marvel Comics greatest strength is it's stable of characters that live in the same world and interact frequently. Individually they are fantastic but, together, magic is made. The Incredible Hulk movie is one step towards that direction.

Everything about this movie worked. Edward Norton as acclaimed scientist Bruce Banner was effective in showing a tortured soul with a dark secret.

You believed in his portrayal, you rooted for him and you felt his pain. Liv Tyler as Betty Ross was amazing as Banner's long suffering scientific colleague and former girlfriend and Tim Roth who played the villian of the piece was sublime.

They say a hero is only as good as his nemesis. Roth as the Abomination was pure class.

I loved the CGI special effects all throughout this film. The Hulk effects were perfect and filmed beautifully. I liked the fact that a lot of thought had gone into this film.

This is the second outing from the fledgling Marvel Studios and they have hit the ground sprinting. Iron Man was the first smash hit.

I loved the effects of the sonic cannons used in the movie. It just reminded film of the X-Men character Banshee. Ladies and gentlemen, we now have the means to show a decent Banshee on screen in a future X-Men movie (hint, hint).

Of course, I can't talk about the Hulk with out mentioning the action. This is what was lacking from the first Hulk movie. Pure unbridled Hulk rage.

Whether he was battling army vehicles or going toe to toe with the Abomination this is how it should be done. Very exciting and very large.

I also loved seeing a couple of the classic fight moves taken straight from the comics. Excellent! Three other cameos in the film left the door open to a great sequel which I cannot wait to see.

This was a definite 8 out of 10 from me.

With the Marvel Universe being created on the big screen before our very eyes all I can say is, bring on Thor!!
