I recently had the pleasure to finally watch Iron Man on the big screen. Now. Don't get me wrong. I heard all the reviews, mostly positive, but I had to see it for myself. You see Iron Man is a classic Marvel superhero with a history that I know intimately. You could say that I grew up with the character along with the rest of the Marvel stable. Marvel Studios was a newly formed venture to produce their movies in-house with full creative control over their properties. Iron Man was the first out of the gate. Absolutely amazing! All the cast were spot on. The updated origin worked magnificently while keeping to the spirit of the character.

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark was inspired, he totally got the character.

And then there was the special effects.

In a word, breathtaking.

Iron Man lives!

At last, CGI (computer generated imagery) is able to take the imagination and lay it out on screen. The armour looked and felt real!

The film made me long for a sequel to come out as quick as possible.

And, staying til the end of the credits for the extra scene, it looks like the Avengers are preparing to be formed!

I must admit when I walked out of the cinema I told my mate that I rate it 7 out of 10.

But, on reflection, I have to give it 8 out of 10 as it is easily one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.

This will set the standard. The bar has been raised.
