Rawle Austin's Blog - Positive life commentary...

The Rich List has landed...!!!

So, its arrived again.

Featuring inspirational and positive thinkers and doers.

The Sunday Times Rich List 2007.

What is clear when you delve into the personal stories contained within is that the core values of each entrant are pretty standard.

Helping people (through their businesses and philantropy) and enjoying life.

Check it out here.

And this is the list for 2006.

Understanding versus Bravado...

Understanding is making decisions based on sound facts.

Bravado is making decisions based on what you'd like to happen with no basis in reality.

That's something I've learnt on my journey that I thought you'd like to know.

China delayed...

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I've had to postpone my China trip.

I'll let you know when everything is sorted and dates have been finalised.

Gong li is stunning in this film...!

The Curse of the Golden Flower. Fantastic! 9 out of 10

Loved this film. Gong li was amazing! Chow Yun Fat was majestic!

In fact all the supporting cast took me away to Tang Dynasty era China and blew my mind.

The period dress was exquisite and the palace colours and decor were astounding and a joy to watch.

But the fight scenes. Marvellous! Poetic! Original. I have to see this film again just to take it all in.

It's got to be seen on the big screen!

Formula One make way...!

Lewis Hamilton is 2nd again!

In his third Formula 1 Grand Prix Hamilton has set a world record in being the first driver to finish on the podium in all of his first three races!

That's when you see dedication and hard work pay off. No such thing as an overnight success and he's been training for over 10 years.

Great stuff.

A gem of Korean cinema...

The City of Violence. I give this 7 out of 10.

This quality Korean film is directed by Ryoo Seung -hwan who also stars in the movie.

It's very quirky and has a style all of its own. The story is bittersweet and mixes in some great fight scenes.

Tells the story of five small town boys and how life changes them through adult life.

It's rated 18 for good reason and is a riveting film.

Here's a cool site to introduce you to Korean film.

And we're out...

Spurs have just lost their second leg of the UEFA Cup quarter final to Sevilla. The score on the night was 2 - 2 but the aggregate score was 3 - 4.

And thus our european adventure has ended. But it was thrilling along the way and this experience will serve us well in the future.

So heads high and time to focus on the Premiership, and getting back into Europe next season.

Come on you Spurs!

Dare you open the Dragon Tiger Gate?

Went to see a screening of Dragon Tiger Gate at London's Covent Garden Hotel.

Wow! I wasn't sure what to expect but this Hong Kong movie resets the bar for kung fu action films.

Based on a popular Hong Kong manga (comic book) it stars Donnie Yen as one of three young heroes fighting a menace hellbent on destroying thier existence.

Donnie Yen is shaping up to be the successor of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

Fantastic moves. This film has some amazing fight scenes coupled with eye catching special effects that I loved.

The story was good too and helped to make the whole piece a joy to behold.

I give it 7 out of 10 and recommend you see it when it's released on DVD on 25 June 2007.

Learn more about the film at its official website.

Glory, glory Man United!!!

What a fantastic game!! Manchester United (Man U) thrashed Roma 7 - 1 in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final.

After losing the first leg, 2 - 1, you just have to admire the positive attitude they displayed and their determination to win. And that's coming from a Spurs fan!

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has much to be proud of.

Dazzling displays by all but I was particularly impressed by Ryan Giggs and Christiano Ronaldo. Giggs' thoughtful passing and Ronaldo's breathtaking runs made this a joy to watch.

It was almost like playing FIFA 07 on the Playstation 2!!

On the easy level!!!

And the icing on the cake was Clive Tyldesey's commentary, both in the game and in FIFA 07!

This is why they call it the beautiful game.

And talking about FIFA 07, I really think there should be an option to see an action replay of the whole game. That way you could marvel (or cringe) at how you played.

I've been working my way through the international teams, playing as Spurs, of course.

Only progressing to the next team if I beat the last one. Just beat Spain 1 - 0. They gave me a hard game!

I have to say, FIFA 07 is one of the best games of all time. Real players, real commentary and a lot of fun.

Now, if only EA Sports can add Guyana to the international team section and all will be well in the world...

He's done it again...!!!

Lewis Hamilton has come in second place in his second ever Formula One race! He finished behind team mate Fernando Alonso and ahead of veteran Kimi Rakkonien to claim a podium finish.

Talk about inspirational!

British sport has a future champion in the making, with all the positive qualities that come with it.

It'll be great to watch his progress.

A bitter pill to swallow...

Ouch! Ok, so Spurs have suffered a slight dip in form lately.

Losing to Sevilla in the first leg of the UEFA Cup quarter finals, 2 - 1, and then to Chelsea, 1 - 0.

But, you know what they say, the seeds of success are sown in every defeat.

We'll bounce back and become stronger for it!

All Fired Up! The Apprentice is back!!

So, The Apprentice is back! Sir Alan Sugar is once again on top form.

This is a great show for anyone who's looking to learn new business and leadership skills.

16 candidates started out and, so far, two have been fired and one left for personal reasons. I love this show as it really shows up the importance of being a strong leader.

Test your own people skills by guessing who'll get the boot.

There's never a point where you go "I've got it, I've got enough skills!", you're always learning.

Everyone's different and that makes working with people in a team so exciting.

That's a great reason to watch the show, and to hear Sir Alan utter those immortal words;

"You're Fired!"

It's on BBC1 on Wednesdays at 9pm.

See what the show is all about, here.
