I visited the Rookery which is a cool ornate garden located at the top of Streatham Common, London. It's a great place to relax and chill so if you haven't been there before, I recommend it. I love going there and try to make it an annual pilgrimage. I believe that we often take so much of the beauty that is around us for granted. We walk through our surroundings everyday and it's only when we stop and take a look around that we can see that we are surrounded by wonder and vibrant life. This is what I try to capture on my camera from time to time. Just one way to enjoy life.

In a follow up to my Doctor's appointment I had an ECG (Electrocardiogram) test. This tests the workings of the heart, which is a muscle, and sees if it's working properly. All precautionary but with my potential high cholesterol a worthwhile endeavour. The jogging is underway in earnest and also got some leaflets on keeping to a healthy diet will help keep the body in shape. Life is for living and the only way to enjoy it fully is to take care of your health.

Had the chance to go kite flying on Streatham Common. This was another long term dream of mine and it's quite exhilirating when the kite catches the wind and it's sent soaring high into the sky. It makes me appreciate nature more when I see it flying. It's like a feeling of true freedom, like a bird. So relaxing! Unfortunately, it broke so I have to fix it, but I made some videos of it flying (with one hand!). I'll upload them to the GrowlersWorld TV section for your viewing pleasure. Recently upgraded my phone so the videos are clearer and of better quality.
Went to a cool film festival at the Coronet cinema in Notting Hill Gate. First time in the area for at least 8 years. Very nice. The film was called Parking (Ting Che in Chinese). Basically about a man who's car is blocked by another car doubled parked next to him and it follows what happens next. A fantastic piece of storytelling with vibrant characters and a lot of heart. I was hooked from start to finish. Great movie.

My good friend Michelle returned from China this week after three months. She teaches me Mandarin Chinese and I teach her English. Learning one to one is one of my favourite forms of learning. You cover a lot of ground and get a greater cultural insight too. Well recommended to anyone learning a language.
