The Return... Catching Up... ;)

My first Random Thought for a while. My grandmother passed away in Guyana, South America in June 2010 so I went and attended the funeral there. My gran had a good long life, she gave love and recieved love from all who knew her. Her strength was always apparent, especially when my own mum (her daughter) died twenty years ago. Seeing her for the last time I could see she was at peace, she was sleeping the eternal sleep and this was very comforting.

I took the chance while I was there to reconnect with family. Being surrounded by loved ones is incredibly healing. The last time I was there was in 2001. I took quite a few photographs to document the trip, click here to see. The picture below shows me with my Guyanese cousins Julie and Ayanna. The internet connection in the countryside is still quite slow so I couldn't use it during my time there. This was the first time in years that I hadn't been online and it actually felt good. It was like taking a rest. I'm normally always online here in London, with the site and all, and rarely take a break from it. After this trip I can see how important rest can be and will take a bit more.

The Football World Cup in South Africa finished with Spain taking the trophy. England were out at the knockout stage, beaten by Germany. A lot of rebuilding and reflection will be needed to come back stronger. Overall, the competition was quite good from what I saw and the Vuvuzela horn became a household name. I caught a few games on TV in Guyana and witnessed that the tournament is truly a global phenomenon with fans everywhere.

Time away is good to reflect. On where you've been, where you are and where you want to be. I renewed my will to constantly improve GrowlersWorld, keep learning and enjoy the journey. I want to make it more useful and more fun. I love how it stretches my creativity and takes me to new avenues of learning. I love how it gives me a positive use of my time and occupies me throughout the day. Once an acorn, it has sprouted quite nicely and requires constant watering.

In the beginning when I created the site, I was just eager to get my creative efforts online. I hadn't even heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Now, looking back, I realise that a lot of my pictures havent been labelled effectively or Alt Tagged. This makes it harder for people to find my content through search engines. So I will be gradually fixing this ancient error over time, bit by bit. Life's journey is unpredictable, but it can be fulfilling and fun. Do what you love and don't give up on your dreams.
