iGrowlersWorld - Exploring Smart Tech!

Innovation is most clearly seen in the form of new technology and cool gadgets. Hardware or software. Whether it is mobile phones, laptops, operating systems or anything else. This drive to produce the next best thing, to make it smaller, more powerful and more helpful has been going on for centuries and is awesome to behold. With smartphones, tablet computers and more being unleashed unto the world by inspiring inventors, this is where I add my commentary on this cool industry.

Rawle Austin presents...

The Wonder of the Sony Ericsson Xperia x10i...!

The smartphone. Created to be the next generation of mobile phone, the idea is like having a mini computer in your pocket. With touchscreen control that can be used by your fingers. But how does it work? The Apple iPhone made the smartphone mainstream and hot on its tail are smartphones using Google's Android operating system like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i. iPhones use Apple's iOS operating system.

Basically these operating systems can run programs called applications on the smartphone, giving the phone even more features and its highly personal as you get to choose what "apps" you install for your own use. The mobile phone has become smarter, hence the term. The smartphone thus becomes even more of an essential item to our lives and lets not forget they're also good for making calls and sending texts! I've long held the dream of having an all in one device which does everything, and this smartphone idea comes very close.

The Android operating system currently doesn't have an app for reading Marvel Comics and DC Comics, unlike the iPhone, but when it does that would be a huge plus for many, including myself. Android Apps are under development from Marvel and DC Comics. If you look under the bonnet of the smartphone, its engine, the processor can hit speeds of 1GHz. Smartphones with this processor can run all its features at high speed making for a very efficient performance and to top it all you can go online via Wi-Fi or 3G and surf the net anywhere, anytime with a decent sized touchscreen. The handset comes with Android 1.6 (Donut) and an upgrade to Android 2.1 (Eclair) has been promised but has been delayed. It will be worth the wait however as more feaures will be added including HD video recording.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia x10i is one such smartphone that combines a beautiful design with powerful functions. Websites like PhoneArena give great reviews and provide detailed specs of all the latest phones combined with great in-depth articles. There are also numerous videos on YouTube which show visual reviews and take you through all that the phone can do. The x10i has a massive 4 inch screen, an eight megapixel camera and a virtual keyboard to name just a few of its features. All smartphones are stuffed with enhanced capabilities, designed to make organising your life easier. Many mobile phone companies like T-Mobile are offering free smartphones with up to 18 month contracts in the UK. However smartphones can be purchased without a contract.

So, to sum up, smartphones are the next evolutionary step of mobile phones. The only issue is the battery life as you have to charge smartphones daily. This should improve as technology gets better. I have no doubt that smartphones will continue to change, become even more powerful and do more with that power. The power of innovation, held in your hand. In fact, many of these smartphones are more powerful than desktop computers were 20 years ago. Imagine that! Even as we speak, inventors are researching and developing the technology of tomorrow. It won't be too long before we see it before our very eyes. Technology marches on, and long may it do so.
