Liang Yan - New Chinese Writer

INDEX

Welcome to my world. My English name is Leanne.

I come from JiangXi Province in China and am now based in GuangDong Province.

I would like to introduce you to a modern view of China from my unique and personal point of view.

A Story of Eagles

My boyfriend Joe told me that the chairman of the Group [of the company that he worked for] had fired his department manager.

The manager was asked to leave at the end of this month and move out of his apartment which had previously been supplied to him by the Group.

He was a nice person, but the company needed someone who could make the company be profitable instead of someone losing money every month with a kind heart.

He always thought that his job was safe because he had the ability to deal with all kinds of problems and so the company would find it difficult to replace him.

But to his surprise, the company asked him to find his proper career somewhere else.

Joe said that the manager was just like an eagle. To explain this, here is a story about these wonderful birds.

Eagles can live for 70 years.

At the age of 40, their claws are aging and it’s very hard for them to catch any food. Their beaks grow so long that it hurts their bodies.

Their feathers are too heavy for them to fly for a long time.

They have two choices ahead of them, one is finding a safe place to stay and wait for the end of their life; the other is going through a great and tearing change.

They need to build a special nest on a cliff, stay there and not fly for 150 days.

Then, they need to knock on the cliff with their beaks until it completely falls off; and wait for the new beak to grow.

Then, they use the new beak to pluck the claws and feathers from their bodies.

Five months later when the new feathers have come out the eagles re-learn how to fly into the blue sky to begin their new life for another 30 years.

Joe said that his manager has the kind of talent to do anything, but he needs to decide which kind of eagle he is.

Maybe he will change his attitude and start a new career, or maybe he will go back to his hometown to find his wife.
