Liang Yan - New Chinese Writer

INDEX

Welcome to my world. My English name is Leanne Liang.

I come from JiangXi Province in China and am now based in GuangDong Province.

I would like to introduce you to a modern view of China from my unique and personal point of view.

My Trip to Lijiang

I recently returned from visiting Lijiang in Yunnan province.

It was so good to travel around.

For a long time, I knew that there were 55 minority races in China, but I never had the chance to see them and talk to them.

Yunnan Province has the most minority races compared to the other provinces.

The place where I went was a good place to see them, and I watched the documentary "Li Jiang Impression", directed by a famous director Zhang Yimou, who also directed "Not one less".

It gave me a great memory of Lijiang and the minority people.

I went to climb the Tiger Leaping Gorge, which was said to be the deepest valley in the world. I crossed the Jin Sha River by a ferry, the river is one of the main tributaries of Yangtse river.

The most minority people in Lijiang is Naxi people. They have their own language, and they call themselves the sons of the Sun.

The son of a person who can drain the Yangtse River and can still be thirsty, is the son of the strongest man in the world.

The reason Lijiang is famous is because of the Ancient Tea-horse Road.

It was the most important road for the people to walk to Tibet and other places. And the teams of travellers and their horses always stopped in Lijiang town to have rests there.

The ancient music of the Naxi people is also one of the most important things for them.

The band was called 'the elders' because it featured old musicians, most of them were even older than 80 and they used old musical instruments.

The instruments have been used for many, many years. Some of them are the heirlooms of their family and they played old ancient music.

The biggest family among the Naxi people is the Mu family. Their family name was given by an emperor of the Qing Dynasty.

My friend Karen said the Mu mansion was as spectacular as The Forbidden City, though the size is smaller than the latter one.
