Liang Yan - New Chinese Writer

INDEX

Welcome to my world. My English name is LeAnne.

I come from JiangXi Province in China and am now based in GuangDong Province.

I would like to introduce you to a modern view of China from my unique and personal point of view.

Choice

At 7 years old, I had my first choice. I could study the same book over and over again at my old school, or change my school so that I could further my education.

For me, studying the same thing over again was good because I could remember things more easier, get higher scores and play with my old friends.

On the other hand, I would have no chance to accept new knowledge.

If I changed my school, I would have to learn how to communicate with new teachers and students.

I would also try to get used to the new teachers’ teaching styles, but I could learn many new things.

Which would be better for me, which one would I like more and which one I should choose?

All of these depended on me, as my parents trusted me and they thought I had the right to do the things I liked. If the issues were legal and good for me, they would support me forever.

At last, I changed my study environment and the choice proved to be right, as I became a good student in that school, my new teacher liked me very much.

Now, I have finished my education and have gotten a job in a factory.

But 5 months ago, I still had to make a decision, to continue to study in another advanced school or just get on my job in the factory?

Before I went to GuangDong, I was a junior in college.

I liked to study and most of my teachers hoped that I could continue my study at school.

They knew I could pass the entrance exam to a better high school, but something bad happened.

My parents thought it was time for me to find a job and they said I could study anything I liked during my work time.

Our family was not very rich and my older brother was about to get married. To make matters worse, we had borrowed a lot of money from the bank and our relatives.

I couldn’t do the things I liked without my parents and brothers permission.

They trusted me but they had some more important things to do with the money. They had done enough for me so it was time for me to do something for them.

But I really wanted to learn more, I missed school since I went to this factory, I didn’t like job, the leaders and the colleagues were new, all of them did what the boss liked and requested.

After work they stayed in dormitories, talked about things like boyfriends, families and clothes.

They turned on the radio, spoke loudly and danced in the bedroom. In my opinion, it was boring and not useful.

In this kind of situation, how could I learn the things I wanted to?

I couldn’t ask them to give up their habits, as they also couldn’t complain about me staying up late at night.

But some of my friends said that if I was a strong person, I could learn everything I wanted to during work time.

What should I do?

For about one month, I couldn’t sleep well as I had to make this choice.

I talked with my boyfriend, he said if I really wanted to continue my study, he would support me, pay the fee and encourage me.

One of my other good friends also promised that he could help me with my education.

But I was not the person who would be dead without other people’s help.

I had to be independent and do the right thing for myself.

Now, working in the factory as a translator, I have much time to do what I like.

Such as studying English and Japanese in BoYi Training Center every night, learning how to make a sweater for myself and reading the novels and magazines that I enjoy.

Yes, choice helps me to gain something but at the same time I lose something else. I lose the thing I rejected.

Everyone has to make a choice in his or her lifetime so choose carefully and never regret your decision.

I believe that whatever I choose to do I will try my best, as I may not have the chance or the time to do it again.
